  • Reciprocal transparency and a balanced approach to regulations were emphasized.

International Insights Focused Our Core Initiatives On What Matters Most

The Supply Chain of the Future Initiative expanded its reach with global Collabathons in Europe, Africa, Asia, the Middle East, India, Australia, and New Zealand. These events built upon the success of the Las Vegas Collabathon, fostering dynamic interaction and gathering diverse insights from participants worldwide. Participants engaged in interactive Event Storm exercises, virtual whiteboard sessions, and group discussions, identifying and prioritizing the most pressing challenges within the fresh supply chain.

The Collabathons revealed a strong consensus on the need for digitization, with participants highlighting the issue that too much critical data remains siloed in physical records or individuals' knowledge. Shelf-life prediction and analytics, risk management for temperature deviations, and temperature and atmosphere monitoring also emerged as vital priorities. These insights reinforced the industry's collective urgency to address data-driven solutions and interoperability. Each Collabathon concluded with a panel discussion featuring industry leaders who emphasized the importance of collaboration, trust, and sustainability.

Key themes from the panel discussions included the need for reciprocal transparency, a shift towards a pull model driven by consumer demand, and the importance of a level playing field for growers. Panelists also addressed the challenges posed by regulations like Europe's Green Deal, advocating for a balanced approach that supports both sustainability and the viability of fresh produce production.
